Citizenship

Our noncredit Citizenship Preparation course is designed to support adult learners who are preparing to apply for U.S. citizenship. This course provides clear, practical guidance through the naturalization process while building the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed on the citizenship interview and exam.

Students will study U.S. history, government, and civics aligned with the USCIS naturalization test, while also developing English skills needed for speaking, reading, and writing. The course emphasizes real-world practice, including mock interviews, application review support, and test preparation strategies in a supportive, low-pressure learning environment.

This free, noncredit course is open to adults 18 and older and does not require prior college experience. Classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible, removing barriers for individuals who may not yet see themselves as college students. Through this course, learners gain not only the tools to pursue citizenship, but also the confidence to continue their educational journey and engage more fully in their community.

This course will cover procedures and forms necessary to ecome a U.S. Citizen. Students will learn the necessary conversational skills, knowledge of American history, and government required for passing the United States Citizenship exam. Students will study the U.S. systems of government, major American historical events, current events, and American culture. All topics covered in the official exam will be presented to the student in practice tests. Students wil also be introduced to the on-line process of applying for citizenship. This course is repeatable.
